Hunger is a very real issue in our country. Each month, hundreds of thousands of Canadians access various services (including soup kitchens and food banks) to ensure that they have the food they need. (Read more about this in HungerCount, an annual report published by Food Banks Canada).
In our own city of Lethbridge, we serve more than 120 individuals every day, just at the Soup Kitchen, and we know other organizations are providing help for the hungry as well. Whether or not we notice it, hunger is present.
So we encourage you to help us spread the word, not only to ignite a passion for our cause, but to raise awareness about this issue. There are many roads that lead to the Soup Kitchen, and the key to reducing our numbers, is addressing the circumstances that bring people to us.
